Early October

We went to Meeker,Colorado on October 6 to attend a graveside service for my sister-in-law, Sharon.  The fall-colored flowers in the center are the ones all the siblings gave to Dave.
Here are all the flowers set up at the foot of the grave.
Here are Dave's sons and sons-law carrying the casket to the grave.
Here, as they place the casket, you can see, on the left, Nathan, Rory (Mindy's husband), Gaylen.  On the right are Josh (Elizabeth's husband), Josh, (Bonnie's husband), and Myron.
Rory by the casket with the casket wreath on top.  The family had a very beautiful service with wonderful tributes to Sharon.
At the church later we had a luncheon where we got some pictures.  Here are Dave and his siblings
Ann, Marie, Rudy, Dave, Me, Judy, and Jerry.  All that is missing is Rowen who passed away a year ago.
Here we are with our spouses:  Paul and Ann, Virgil and Marie, Rudy and Julia, Dave, Gary and me, Brent and Judy, Jerry and Ranae.

On the following Saturday, October 13, we went on a really fun ATV ride with a big group of other people.  We went to the Missile Falls trail in the Canyonlands area.
Here is the caravan lining up to head out.
We started out from the Hamburger Rocks campground.  You can see why they are called hamburger rocks!
We were able to get this picture across the canyon of part of the caravan that was behind us.
                                                                 More hamburger rocks.
Brent Flavel who was the one who invited us.
The seven sisters up above the bluff.
Looking out over a canyon that was just off to our right.
The Stanleys up on top who were leading us on the trip.  Craig Stanley is in our bishopric.
A closeup of some more cool rock formations

                                                                The big sand hill
Looking down from the top of the sand hill.  It was very steep!

Looking back up after the descent.

                                                 Following John and Jeroldine Helquist
Driving through the creekbed where there was till running water from all the rains we have had.
The missile that the trail is named for.  It crashed there when the military was using this area to test equipment to deter nuclear attacks during the cold war.  The Pershing missiles were fired from both Green River and Black Mesa. This one crashed in the late 60s or early 70s.
Gary and me in front of part of the missile.

A shot of the missile that shows all that is left of it.
We had our lunch at the missile site and, while there, we met a couple named Embleton who are serving a mission at Bluff Fort.  It turns out they are from Bluebell and know Rudy, Eldon, Mark, and lots of other friends and family from home.
Following Harold Keylon after we separated from the bigger group.
                                                         The ATV behind us.
The rest of these pictures are scenery along the trail.  We loved the rock formations.
