Late October

Jim and Rebecca came to see us over fall break.  They were here from late Thursday through Saturday, October 18 through 20.  On Friday we went out to Cedar Mesa and hiked to the Cave Tower Ruins.  As we were hiking we saw a herd of 20 or more deer with a big buck.  Beautiful!
Gary took this shot of the rest of us, Jim, Rebecca, Jared, and me.
Here is the best of the ruins.  You can go behind it and see through the window to the canyon on the other side.
Here is another tower that is mostly fallen down but still recognizable.
                                                    A view down the canyon.
From across the canyon you can see some ruins under this cliff with some walls.

Some great walls on this ruin. Looks like they are intact.

In the center of this photo you can see a manmade wall blocking an opening.
On the way back we saw the deer again and got a few more shots of one doe.  On Saturday we went to the Edge of the Cedars Museum and everyone really enjoyed that.
On Saturday the 28th we went out on Babe with a group of others who included Harold Keylon, John and Jeroldene Helquist, Dee Street and a friend, and our leader, Ferd Johnson.  We went up to fourth reservoir and then drove out around and came back into town on the old dump road.  This is a view of the area with the dam on the left.
Ferd took us to the Martineau Cave just off the road.  When the Martineau Family first moved to Blanding, they were very poor and lived in this cave with all their children until they were able to earn enough to get a house.
A view of the cave looking back into the back.  It was pretty big.

On Halloween we made this witch to sit on the bench on our front porch.  She looked pretty real, so Gary put on a mask and got his screaming hatchet and sat next to her for a  picture.
A closeup of Gary and the witch.  The little kids loved the witch when they came trick or treating that night. Our favorite trick or treater was little Jack with his grandpa and grandma.
                                                      Look out, it's the Incredibles!
