As we traveled through Bluff on our way to Mesa, we happened upon the balloon festival. What fun!
That was a bonus!!
We arrived in Mesa before dinnertime. We enjoyed the evening with Chuck and Diane and spent the night with them. The next morning was Saturday, and we went to spend some time with Keith and Kayla.
We drove over to the Mesa Temple and got some fun pictures of the temple and all of us.
This cool fountain has water coming out of the mouth of a lion.
We took this picture of Kayla, Keith and Gary so we could post it on Facebook and brag about who we got to spend time with!
| These two photos are on the front corner of the temple. |
This is a bed of different cacti on the temple grounds. After our tour of the temple grounds, we went out to lunch with the kids at a really good Mexican restaurant which we took Chuck and Diane to later.
That afternoon we went with Chuck and Diane to the Gilbert Temple where we did sealings. This is the side of the temple with water falls behind us. Such a beautiful place!!
And here are Chuck and Diane in the same spot.
On Sunday we attended church with Chuck and Diane, then Keith and Kayla came over to their house for dinner. A very nice day!
On Monday we went to this park where there are walking trails and bike trails around and up and down a hill. I was quite fascinated by the Socorro cacti everywhere. Here are Chuck and Diane just before we split up. Diane had had knee replacement surgery, so she walked around the hill. The rest of us walked up and over the hill.
And this is the view from the top of the hill. The temperature was in the mid 70s. On Monday evening we all went to Chuck and Diane's son's home. Ben lives in Queen Creek. We had home evening with them, and Keith and Kayla came again. We didn't get pictures, but they have a beautiful home.
We started for home on Tuesday morning. We went through Snowflake so went up to see that temple.
As we were crossing through the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, we came upon an accident that closed the road both ways. People started driving out into a field, around the accident, and back on the road on the other side. We hesitated but, finally, we were told it would be another hour after we sat there for an hour, so we decided to risk it. This is the makeshift road. Otherwise we had a pleasant trip back home.
